On December 29, 2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China announced the list of 69 national field scientific observation and research stations, among which the Xuefeng Mountain Energy Equipment Safety Field Scientific Observation and Research Station constructed by the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University was included. As the first approved national field scientific observation and research station of our school, it is a new milestone for the discipline construction of our university.
National Field Research and Observation Stations (hereinafter “field stations”) are important components of China’s research and innovation system.
Xuefeng Mountain Energy Equipment Safety Field Scientific Observation and Research Station (hereinafter “Xuefeng Mountain Field Station”) of Chongqing University was established in July 2008. It was designed and constructed by an innovative research team on power grid equipment safety and natural disaster prevention that is led by Professor Jiang Xingliang, a pioneer in China’s high-voltage transmission industry. Xuefeng Mountain Field Station was first approved as a provincial field station in October 2018 and then proposed to apply for the national level in October 2019. Xuefeng Mountain Field Station is the world’s first field scientific observation and research station for energy equipment safety defense.
Through continuous scientific observation and research, Xuefeng Mountain Field Station has made outstanding contributions in the field of ice prevention and disaster reduction of power grid. The achievements of the field station were awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Special Award, National Science and Technology Progress First Award and the Natural Science Prize of Chinese University, First Class.
