On September 10-13, 2018, the IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE) was held in Athens, Greece.
The ICHVE series of conferences were initiated by Academician Sun Caixin of Chongqing University and Professor Stanislaw Grzybowski of Mississippi State University. The ICHVE conference was first held in Chongqing in 2008 and upgraded to an international conference hosted by the IEEE Dielectric and Electrical Insulation Society (IEEE DEIS) in 2016, genernally held every two years worldwide. Professor Li Jian of School of Electrical Engineering served as the co-chair of the conference.
The IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Grzybowski Achievement Award, an international academic award named after Academician Sun Caixin, was awarded for the first time at the conference this year. The award was established by IEEE Dielectric and Insulation Society (DEIS) in 2017 and funded by the Sun Caixin Education Fund to affirm scholars’ outstanding contributions in the field of high voltage and dielectric materials worldwide. This time, Professor Yasuhiro Tanaka of Tokyo Metropolitan University won the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Associate Professor Li Qi of Tsinghua University won the Young Scholar Achievement Award.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Li Jian was invited to give a keynote speech entitled Polymer-based Dielectric Materials for High-temperature Film Capacitors.
The expert group of ICHVE conference seriously reviewed and selected 10 papers as best conference paper awarded by the IEEE DEIS. Doctoral students Yin Ze and He Li of our school received this honor.
