Second Helicon Plasma Physics and Applications Workshop was Successfully Held in Chongqing


Second Helicon Plasma Physics and Applications Workshop was Successfully Held in Chongqing from April 11th to 14th, 2024. The workshop was hosted by the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University and State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment Technology, co-organized by Southwest Institute of Physics, Nuclear Industry, and supported by Plasma Physics Branch of the Chinese Physical Society, Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Physics Branch of the Chinese Nuclear Society, Electric Propulsion Branch of the Chinese Society of Astronautics, Plasma Science and Technologyand SpaceSolar Power and Wireless Transmission.

At the opening ceremony, Professor RodBoswell, Academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences and Australian National University, delivered a speech on behalf of the international organizing committee to congratulate the meeting on schedule; Professor Song Yuanhong from Dalian University of Technology, Director of the Plasma Science and Technology Committee of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, would like to thank all the participants for coming to Chongqing and wish the conference a complete success. The seminar received more than 160 registrations and 140 participants (including more than 20 foreign participants). They are from Australian National University, West Virginia University, Auburn University, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, University of Auckland, Northeastern University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Kyushu University, University of Tsukuba, Kobe University, Dalian University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Soochow University, Beijing Institute of Printing and Technology, Peking University, Institute of Plasma Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Beijing Aerospace More than 50 institutions, including University, Tsinghua University, University of South China, Harbin Institute of Technology, National University of Defense Technology, Nanchang University, Sichuan University, Southwest Institute of Physics of Nuclear Industry, Chongqing University, etc. 48 presentations were arranged (including 7 abroad), which were broadcast live on the academic conference platform, and the total number of online viewers was 27,000.

In order to encourage and support graduate students to engage in research work, the symposium selected 10 best student report awards from 23 student reports. Certificate and presentation of the latest monograph "High-Density Helicon Plasma Science" by Prof. Shunjiro Shinohara and a commemorative flash drive from Boswell Technology.

The Second Helicon Plasma Physics and Applications Workshop (HelICON Plasma Physics and Applications Workshop) is an academic conference co-sponsored by RodBoswell and Googler. It is committed to providing a professional academic exchange platform for spiral wave plasma researchers at home and abroad. The first session, organized by the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (held online due to the impact of the epidemic), focused on the basic physics of spiral wave discharge, and this session focused on the application of spiral wave plasma sources in ring fusion devices and industrial fields.
