On the evening of June 27, 2024, the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University held a specialized lecture titled “Student Safety Abroad: Ensuring a Secure Study Experience” in Classroom D1302 of the First Teaching Building at Huxi Campus. The lecture was jointly delivered by Zhang Rui, Director of the Overseas Study Management Office at the University’s International Office, and Lei Ze, Director of the Safety Education Office of the Security Department. It was moderated by Xi Yaqin, the school’s international affairs coordinator, with seven students in attendance.

Lei Ze from the Security Department’s Safety Education Office delivered a presentation themed “Safety is the Golden Rule of Life”. He emphasized national security, urging students to maintain vigilance and uphold bottom-line principles through real-world case studies. He also outlined safety protocols for emergencies abroad and shared practical advice on financial security while overseas, such as safe usage of payment cards.

Zhang Rui from the International Office drew on her extensive experience to highlight potential risks of studying abroad. She advised students to proactively familiarize themselves with local cultures, legal systems, and essential life skills before departure. Special attention was given to avoiding telecom fraud schemes overseas. Zhang encouraged students to cherish their international opportunities, complete their studies successfully, and return home safely.

Mu Feng, the school’s faculty coordinator, reminded attendees to maintain close communication with the school during their time abroad and to prioritize personal safety by staying alert to potential hazards.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where students addressed their concerns with the speakers.
