Undergraduate Program for Specialty in Electrical Engineering and Its Automation


1. Introduction

Established in 1936, the specialty, at present, is a “National Level Program with Distinctive Features” and a pilot project of “Educating and Training Outsanding Engineers”of Ministry of Education. With the State Key Discipline (Level 1) of “Electrical Engineering”, Doctorate Authorization of First-Level Discipline of “Electrical Engineering”, Post-doctoral Research Center of “Electrical Engineering”, State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment & System Security, “Theory and Technology of Security of High-voltage Power Transmission and Distribution Equipments”, Innovative Research Group of Natural Science Foundation of China, National Engineering Teaching Base for Electrical and Electronic Basic Courses, National Demonstration Center for Basic Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching and National Teaching Team for Electrical and Electronical Basic Courses, it provides excellent condition and environment for cultivation and development of students.

After enrollment, 30 freshmen of the specialty will be selected to conduct their study at top-notch creative talents cultivation experimental class of Hongshen Honors School. In the fifth semester, all the students, based on their own aspiration and teachers’ situation, will choose direction of their graduation design and academic supervisor ahead of time. Under the guidance of academic supervisors, senior students will finish their courses and graduation design on time.

4. Educational Objectives and Specifications

1). Educational Objectives

The objective of the program is to cultivate high-quality graduate students who:

possess solid fundamental theories in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and information technology , and automatic control and computer application technology;

get a wide knowledge of electrical engineering and excellent engineering practical ability;

have basic knowledge of humanistic and social science and economic management;

own spirit of innovation and sense of social responsibility;

can work on scientific research, engineering design, technology development, system operation and economic management in electrical engineering or relevant fields.

2). Educational Specifications

1Knowledge Requirements

K1Good knowledge of humanistic and social science and economic management;

K2Solid knowledge of natural science as mathematics, physics, etc;

K3Solid basic theory and knowledge of electrical engineering;

K4Domain knowledge on 1-2 majors in electrical engineering.

2Ability Requirements

A1Requisite professional skills in electrical engineering;

A2Basic ability to analyze and solve practical problems in electrical engineering;

A3Good competence in English and computer application;

A4Good organizing and managing competence, communication skill and team spirit;

A5Ability of expression in presentating and writing;

A6Self-directed learning skill.

1. Objectives and Specifications
