Research Overview

Founded in 1936, Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University is the national "211 project" and "985 project" key discipline. After 70 years of construction and development, the discipline of electrical engineering has accumulated a solid academic foundation and strong comprehensive strength. In 1998, the discipline was given the right to confer top discipline doctoral degrees and was recognized as a national key discipline in 2007. With five complete national key second-level disciplines “Electric Machines and Electric Apparatus”, “Power System and Automation”, “High Voltage and Insulation Technology”, “Power Electronics and Power Drives” and “Theory and New Technology of Electrical Engineering” and one self-established second-level discipline “Building Electricity and Intelligent Engineering” actively supported, the discipline ranked 5th in the discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2006 and 2012.

As one of the first national specialties constructed, Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University processed the national electrical engineering education professional certification and has been approved of "circuit principle" and "high voltage technology" national excellent courses, National Electrical and Electronic Basic Course Teaching Base, National Electrical and Electronic Basic Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center. The discipline owns a state key laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security, an innovation research group of National Natural Science Foundation and a state-level teaching team of electrical and electronic basic courses.

With the support of national "211 project" and "985 project", Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University has established the fundamental theory of power transmission equipment and system security, and the experimental research platform for its frontier technology research that undertakes the responsibilities of basic research projects and key technologies problems of National Natural Science Foundation and Ministry of Science and Technology.
