On the morning of May 22nd, 2021, Professor Wu Jianzhong, Head of School of Engineering from Cardiff University, was invited to deliver a speech at the Online Lecture Hall on the topic of Integrated Multi-vector Energy Systems. The series of online academic lectures were jointly organized by the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University, the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security, and were hosted by Professor Ren Zhouyang, Dean Assistant of the School.

Before the lecture officially started, Professor Ren extended a warm welcome to Professor Wu's participation in the Online Lecture Hall and provided a brief introduction of Professor Wu's research interests to the audience.

During the lecture, Professor Wu first introduced the basic information about Cardiff University and the ongoing projects of School of Engineering of Cardiff University. Next Professor Wu explained the motivation for the development of multi-vector energy systems with abundant pictorial illustrations. i.e., the mismatch between increasing load demand and shortage of low-carbon, low-cost energy. One of the solutions to tackle this challenge is coordinating multi-energy to achieve sustainable, reliable, and clean energy supply. Then he presented the key opportunities and technologies of the multi-vector energy system analysis at building level, district level, national level and international level. Professor Wu also used real case studies to demonstrate the value of multi-vector energy systems.

In the following session, Professor Wu had an in-depth discussion with teachers and students on the current pain points concerning the penetration of renewable energy and the practical application of multi-energy companies in the UK. Additionally, Prof. Li Qi from the Department of High-voltage and Insulation of School of Electrical Engineering briefly reported to Professor Wu about the collaborative projects between the two schools. In the end, on behalf of the school, Professor Ren expressed great gratitude to Professor Wu and invited him to visit Chongqing University.
